We collaborated with Oreo and Nintendo of America to create a playful piece featuring multiple levels of kinetic contraptions that play music using only Oreo cookies and glasses of milk. Inspired by the iconic video game, we engineered our sets to function as musical instruments by carefully adjusting the distance between glasses, the speed and number of cookies, and even the amount of milk in each glass.
We leveraged iconic Super Mario actions and sound effects like the warp pipe, triple jump, and Goomba stomp to tease the legendary collaboration.
We designed a Nintendo-themed dunk tank that visually tracked the number of SMB OREO packs sold. As more OREOs were added, the platform opened wider, ultimately dunking Bowser in the glass of milk and unlocking the Princess Peach limited edition cookie.
Oreo’s previous collaboration teases were solved too quickly by fans, reducing the length of the social buzz for the launch.
The more cryptic the tease, the more hype and excitement are built for the launch.
