Creative Technology continues to evolve as part of our broader creative practice, shaped through collaboration and leadership grounded in where the studio has been and where it’s headed.

That evolution comes into focus with a homecoming for Justin Bakse, who joins Brand New School’s leadership team as Director of Creative Technology. A BNSer in the early years, Justin later stepped away to dive into the world of academia, deepening his focus on the intersection of code, design, and emerging technology. He now returns with a broader perspective shaped by both practice and teaching, reinforcing BNS’s belief that learning is inseparable from making.

Working closely with teams across design, motion, and production, Justin leads creative technology as an integrated capability within the work itself. Having already hit the ground running with active projects and internal initiatives, his focus is on understanding where emerging tools meaningfully support creative thinking and execution, always grounded in originality and craft.

We’re excited to welcome Justin back to Brand New School and to continue strengthening creative technology as a core discipline in service of the work.
