Lacrosse, America's oldest team sport, originated in 1100 A.D. when played by the Haudenosaunee, or Iroquois Native American peoples. Nike partnered with BNS to honor the sport's forefathers and generate excitement for their latest cleat launch.
We created a visually stunning animated spot that tells an allegorical tale of the sport's origins, in which the first game ever played was a battle before the Creator between teams of Earth's winged and grounded animals. Each animal brought a unique gift to the field, such as the bear's strength and the eagle's speed. BNS artists re-imagined the story to feature the original characters but now playing with the Huarache cleats.
This work helps modern LAX athletes feel closer to the origins of the sport they love while highlighting the advantages of playing with Nike technology on their feet.
How can Nike honor the origins of Lacrosse, America’s oldest sport, while driving home the competitive advantage of the Huarache cleat?
A sport with an origin story as unique as Lacrosse calls for content more special than yet another celebrity-driven ad of an athlete showing off footwear.
Feature the characters of Lacrosse’s origin story whose traits still represent the best of today’s best players and the performance features of Nike’s latest cleat.
We helped modern LAX athletes feel closer to the origin of the sport by connecting them emotionally with allegorical attributes needed for a competitive advantage.
