Apple Music approached us to design a motion system for A-List Pop, a top-tier playlist on Apple Music. The work highlights rotating artists on the platform and need to be a modular system that Apple’s internal creative team could update.
The logotype moves like it sounds when read, rhythmically hitting three beats and landing on the fourth in various configurations.
We used restraint in our approach to motion, focusing on simple directional moves that playfully convey the idea of “Pop.”
The type system is built with modularity in mind. We use names in patterns and resolve in the simplest of layouts.
We use a simple gradient across B&W versions of the artist's photography assets.
The grid system was designed to work across various touchpoints, in-store, and on desktop and mobile platforms.
