If you could have a beer with anyone, who would it be? Many may propose a deceased relative or a celebrity, but how about a deceased historical celebrity? Imagine sitting down to a beer and conversing with a prominent dignitary or a pillaging marauder! Well, now you have the opportunity that no-one has had in hundreds of years.

As part of the “Who Would You Have A Beer With?” campaign, DDB Chicago came up with the very funny premise to sit down across a table with disgruntled historical characters and listen to them ranting about anything from their tainted reputation to the cancellation of “7th Heaven”. These viral spots live at a web site called “Here’s to Beer”, devoted to the appreciation for beer. Among other things, it features recipes for Beertails and recommendations for food pairings.

It was the agency’s idea to cast one actor to play all these roles – from Genghis Khan to Confucius, from Benjamin Franklin to Nostradamus. After finding our star, Brendan Hunt, all we had to do is hire kick-ass wardrobe and make-up artists – Jennifer and Damon –, switch the camera on and keel over. Don Pogany’s scripts and Brendan’s delivery never failed to send the entire crew into laughing fits.
